Social Media: What's In It For You?

Between blogs, wikis, LinkedIn and Facebook, it seems all the world's aTwitter! Oh, that's right, don't forget about Twitter. With all the talk of social media these days, it's hard to figure out where to even begin. One might even wonder - can social media really help build your brand or grow your business?

At BCG, we are helping clients engage in social media to generate exposure for their business, increase traffic to their websites and build their brands. Here is one example:

A New Website, a Blog and Twitter Help Ware-Pak Increase Web Traffic by 50%
Ware-Pak came to BCG to develop a new website that would not only continue their brand building efforts, but also demonstrate their dedication to speed, accuracy and accessibility in third party fulfillment services to the publishing industry. After completing the website, Keith Shay, President of Ware-Pak, asked us to "build him a blog." He wanted to communicate tips, trends and news to the publishing industry.

A little over a year later, Keith is using Twitter to share his blog entries with his followers - consisting of industry colleagues and various publishing houses. Ware-Pak's unique visitors to the website have increased by over 30%, while overall hits have increased by 50%. The blog is the most read page on the website and Twitter is helping Keith connect with publishers and other professionals seeking warehousing and fulfillment services.

March was a record month for Ware-Pak, as they experienced increases in order counts and in the volume of books through the warehouse.

When asked about how tapping into social media has increased his return on marketing dollars invested, Keith Shay responded "Barcelona Creative is great. They are helping us expand our presence on social media sites and as a result, we are gaining new contacts and new customers."
